چکیده
The study is devoted to both static and earthquake response analysis of retaining structures acted upon by lateral earth pressure. Two main approaches were implemented in the analysis, namely, Mononobe-Okabe analytical method numerical Finite element procedure as provided ready software ABAQUS with explicit dynamic method. A basic case considered present work bridge approach walls a part AL-Jadiriya intersection obtain effects backfill ground water on wall including displacement structure addition behavior fill material. Parametric studies carried out evaluate several factors such vertical horizontal components earthquake, maximum peak acceleration, angle friction, damping ratio, height groundwater level within medium fill. Three heights for those above mentioned factors, these are (2.9m, 4.7m and6.7m). comparison made between responses obtained basis finite using It found that FE larger than calculated all wall, it was also pore pressure depends flow through during earthquake. distribution nonlinear acceleration soil properties. Based results from parametric out, two expressions proposed terms height, properties base excitation hence acting structure.

Earthquake Analysis of Base Isolated Structures Including Soil-Structure Interaction
A frequency domain dynamic analysis is needed to obtain the response of structures constructed on a system of base isolators on flexible soil when subjected to earthquake ground motion. In such systems, the lateral stiffness of the base isolators is so small, compared to the structural stiffness, that in an earthquake attack the fundamental vibration mode dominates the response. With this in mi...

متن کاملReducing the Forces Caused by Earthquake on Retaining Walls Using Granulated Rubber-Soil Mixture
In recent years, various studies have been undertaken on how to use waste materials in civil engineering projects. Among waste materials, waste rubber has been highlighted to be used for different purposes such as reinforcing of soil and making of reinforced slopes. To investigate the properties of granulated rubber-soil mixture and its application in making of slopes behind retaining walls, so...
